Koh Samui, the island of coconut trees, is the third largest island in Thailand, only Phuket and Koh Chang are larger. Located only 400 miles south of Bangkok, the island of Samui can be easily reached by frequent air service from Bangkok and international air service from Singapore.
Her tropical beaches are considered some of the finest in Thailand and lure tourist from around the world. Chaweng is the most established beach on the island. Most of the islands’ restaurants, bars and shops can be found along this 5 mile stretch of white sand beach.
Maenam beach is a more secluded beach located on the north end of the island. When the air is calm, you’ll find a powdery sand beach with clear waters that’s good for swimming. But when it’s windy, the area becomes one of the better wind surfing beaches on the island.
